What is a mobile pool lift?

It’s a lift, also known as a “person-lift”, specially designed to get disabled people or people with reduced mobility into the water in (public or private) swimming pools or aquatic centres. It moves around on its castors. It needs no anchoring, so no work is required before it can be used. This means it can easily serve several pools in the same establishment and does not have to remain permanently at the poolside.

These lifts are ideal for professionals in the wellbeing and medical sectors (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, hospitals, spa therapies, terms), leisure professionals (holiday centres, hotels, campsites), local authorities and private individuals.

What is the difference between the mobile pool lifts on offer?

Energy sources : Mobile pool lifts work either with a manual winch operated by an assistant, or with a battery that powers the jack for lowering or raising the seat and sometimes a motor for rotating the seat or moving the lift.

Manoeuvring : Mobile pool lifts are operated with the help of an assistant. Only the Pal 2 (ref: ELE-C-P2), Pelican Pool (ref: ELE-L-PE) and ELE-R-E pool lifts can be used independently once they have been placed on the edge of the pool. These lifts move by arm power, despite their sometimes considerable weight (up to 486 kg). Only the Panda Pool lift (ref: ELE-L-P) offers motorised movement.

For in-ground or above-ground pools: Mobile pool lifts are primarily designed for in-ground pools. Only the PAL lift (ref: ELE-C-P) in its Hi/Lo or SPA version can serve above-ground pools of up to 1.05 m.

Their lifting capacity varies between 120 and 145 kg.

These lifts weigh between 120 and 486 kg. They are weighted to ensure that the lift remains stable when the user descends and rises. This is an important feature to consider when purchasing a pool lift. The attendant must be able to bring the lift and its user to the edge of the pool.

These lifts are fitted with rigid seats with belts. Some models offer the option of belts with 4 or 5 attachment points for better user support.

Finally, price is an important factor, but you mustn’t neglect the quality of the manufacturer’s after-sales service to ensure parts are replaced and available. Using products with established, recognised brand names ensures that your investment will last.
